The most common question we get about termite damage is how much it will cost to fix. The honest answer depends on how far the damage goes, and that is usually hidden until the wall, ceiling or floor is opened.
Termite damage repair cost on the Gold Coast depends mostly on which timbers are damaged, whether they carry load, whether an engineer is needed and how much plasterboard, skirting and trim has to be replaced. A small section of non-structural wall framing is a modest job. Damage to roof framing, beams or subfloor bearers costs considerably more. The only reliable figure is a written quote after inspection.
What affects the cost of fixing termite damage
- Extent of the damage: a few studs and a bottom plate versus a whole wall or room.
- Type of timber: non-structural framing and trims are simpler than load-carrying members.
- Engineering: roof trusses, lintels, beams and bearers may need an engineer's repair detail.
- Propping and access: structural repairs need temporary support while timbers are replaced.
- Linings and finishes: plasterboard, cornice, skirting, architraves and door jambs removed to reach the framing.
- Hidden damage: further damage found once the area is opened.
Why a fixed price before opening up is hard
Termites eat timber from the inside and leave the surface intact, so a wall can look sound while the studs behind it are hollow. We quote the visible work clearly and give an agreed rate or allowance for anything further found, and we price extra work before doing it.
Treat first, then repair
Repairs should start only after a licensed pest manager has treated any active termites. Orange Projects does the building repairs, not termite treatment. If you have a building and pest report, send it with photos so we can see what has been found.
How to get an accurate quote
- Send photos of the damaged areas and any pest or building report.
- Tell us whether the property has been treated.
- Book an inspection so the damage can be assessed on site.
