Overview

Colorbond fencing has become the default boundary fence for Gold Coast homes. It gives privacy, will not rot or attract termites, needs very little maintenance and comes in a range of colours that suit most homes. We install new fences, replace old timber or damaged steel fences, supply and hang matching gates, and remove and dispose of the old fence. Where the ground is uneven or the fence sits on or beside a retaining wall, the posts and footings are planned around the wall rather than as an afterthought. Every fence is quoted in writing after a site visit, with removal of the old fence, posts, panels and gates all included.

New fencing

For a new fence we confirm the line, height and colour, check for underground services and any retaining along the boundary, then set posts in concrete footings and install rails and sheets. Dividing fences affect neighbours, so it helps to have that conversation early.

Replacing an old fence

Old timber paling fences on the Gold Coast often lean, rot at the base or lose palings in storms. We remove the old fence, dispose of it, and install the new fence along the line, often in a single visit for a typical residential run.

Gates

Matching pedestrian gates, side gates and double driveway gates are built with steel frames, proper hinges and latches, and hung so they swing and close cleanly. Pool-area gates have their own safety requirements and need to be designed accordingly.

Heights and configurations

Standard residential heights suit most boundaries, while lattice or slat tops add height and let breeze through. On sloping ground fences can be stepped or raked to follow the land. Height and position can affect whether any approval is required, so we check this for your fence rather than assume.

Fencing with retaining walls

Where a fence runs along a retaining wall, the posts can sometimes be integrated with the wall and sometimes need their own footings behind it. We plan this with the retaining wall so the wall is not overloaded and the fence line stays straight.

It depends on height, location and what the fence is attached to or sits on, such as a retaining wall. Pool fences have their own requirements. We check what applies to your fence.

Who pays for a dividing fence?

Queensland has rules for sharing the cost of dividing fences between neighbours. We recommend talking with your neighbour early; we can quote the job for both parties.

Can you install a fence on a sloping block?

Yes. Fences can be stepped or raked to follow the ground, and retaining can be added where the levels differ between properties.

Do you take away the old fence?

Yes. Removal and disposal of the old fence is included in the quote.
