Before you accept a carpentry quote
- Confirm the QBCC licence number and check it on the public register
- Ask for certificates of currency for public liability and workers cover
- Get the quote in writing with itemised inclusions and exclusions, not a lump sum text message
- Confirm who supplies materials and whether the quote includes waste removal
- Ask whether the price is fixed or an estimate, and what triggers a variation
- Check the payment schedule - large deposits before work starts are a warning sign
