Hybrid flooring clicks together quickly, but most of the finish depends on what happens before the first board goes down.
A typical Gold Coast install is: measure and check the subfloor, remove old flooring, level any high or low spots, lay underlay if the board needs it, install the boards with expansion gaps, then fit trims, scotia or skirting edges. An average home is usually done in one to three days.
Step by step
- Measure and check the floor for level and moisture.
- Remove carpet, old floating floors or loose tiles if needed.
- Grind or patch high and low spots so the floor is flat.
- Lay underlay where the product calls for it.
- Install boards with expansion gaps at walls and doorways.
- Fit trims, scotia and transitions to tiles or carpet.
Why floor prep matters
Most hybrid problems, like clicking, bounce or joins lifting, come from an uneven floor. Older Gold Coast homes on slabs often have dips that need levelling first. Read hybrid flooring underlay and hybrid over tiles.
Supply and install or install only
We can supply the boards or install flooring you've already bought. As a general guide, supply and install runs about $45 to $90 per m² depending on the product and prep. See the hybrid flooring page.
