If you are looking at a retaining wall in Pimpama, the first question is not which sleeper looks best. It is what the wall has to hold back and where the water will go.
Pimpama is one of the fastest-growing pockets in South East Queensland, built out over the last fifteen years with young families who bought a project-builder home and now want it to work harder.
Almost all of the stock is volume-built brick-and-tile from 2010 onward on compact lots, alongside a shrinking number of older acreage properties along the western creek flats. The common scopes are outdoor living, media walls, built-in storage, flooring replacement and kitchen upgrades on homes where the builder's standard package no longer suits.
Where your wall is likely to need engineering or approval because of its height, load or position, we tell you at the inspection and include it in the quote.

Newer estate homes often come with bare or developer-built retaining along the boundaries and a yard that is not quite level. Common jobs are extending or raising existing walls, adding walls to create a flat lawn, and garden walls along fence lines. Estates may have covenants or developer guidelines, and walls near boundaries and easements need checking before design.
Treated pine and hardwood sleepers remain the most economical option for low garden walls. We use timber rated for ground contact, detail it to shed water, and are honest about its shorter lifespan compared with concrete.

Segmental block walls suit curved lines and tiered gardens. They need a compacted base and drainage aggregate, and depending on the system and height, reinforcement back into the soil, so we plan the excavation footprint and access around that.
When posts lean, sleepers bulge or soil washes through, repair rarely lasts. We remove the old wall in stages, support the soil, and rebuild with new posts, footings and drainage.
A rotted sleeper, a failed capping or a blocked drain can often be repaired if the posts and footings are sound. We check before recommending repair, and say so if replacement is the better spend.
