Choosing your roof - the decision that matters most

Open battens give filtered light and a soft look but almost no heat or rain protection. Polycarbonate keeps the rain off and the light in, but radiates heat. Insulated sandwich panels are the most requested option on the Gold Coast because they cut radiant heat dramatically and give a clean flat ceiling you can mount fans and lights into. Attached structures need the ledger fixed into structural framing, not just into fascia or brick veneer, with flashing over the connection so water cannot track back into the wall or roof space. Where the existing roof line makes a clean attachment impossible we build a freestanding structure alongside it, which often looks better and avoids compromising the existing roof.

Most of our pergola work happens over new or existing decking, so post positions, deck levels, board directions and drainage are set out together.
