Internal doors: what upgrading actually changes

Most Gold Coast homes built through the 1990s and 2000s have hollow-core internal doors. Swapping to solid-core changes the feel of a house immediately - the door has weight, it closes with a solid sound instead of a rattle, and bedroom and study acoustics improve noticeably. It is one of the cheapest upgrades per unit of perceived quality in a renovation, especially paired with new lever hardware and matching hinges.

Entry doors and the coastal climate

We install new cavity sliders during renovations, retrofit them into existing walls where framing allows, and repair the ones that were installed badly in the first place.

Adding a door where there was not one - into a garage, a laundry, a converted room or between two living spaces - means cutting the wall, installing a correctly sized lintel, framing the jamb studs, patching linings and matching skirting and architraves. Where the wall is load-bearing we engage an engineer and get the beam certified. All of it is carried out under our QBCC licence.

Yes. Apartment entry doors are frequently fire-rated and must be installed as a complete tagged door set with the correct frame, seals and closer. We install to specification and coordinate any body corporate approvals required.
