A roof adds weight and, more importantly, wind uplift. Deck posts and footings are often too small to resist that. We inspect the deck frame and usually run new roof posts down to their own footings, either beside the deck posts or through the deck.
If the deck boards or frame are tired, it can make sense to replace them at the same time. We will tell you what condition it is in.
