Attached or freestanding
Attached patios use the house to carry one edge of the roof. They are usually cheaper and feel like an extension of the living room. Freestanding patios stand on their own posts, so they can go anywhere on the block and do not rely on the house frame.
We help you decide based on where the shade is needed and how the house is built. Some older fascias cannot carry a roof without strengthening, which can make freestanding the better option.
