Repair, re-board or replace?
A few soft boards or a loose handrail can usually be repaired. If many boards are failing but the frame is solid, re-boarding is often the best value. Switching from timber to composite
Replacing an old timber deck is a good time to consider composite boards such as EkoDeck. They need very little upkeep. Composite boards often need closer joist spacing, so we check the existing frame before recommending it.
Safety and compliance
Older decks were often built to earlier rules. When we replace a deck we build balustrades, stairs and handrails to current requirements. If the new deck is raised or covered, it may need building approval. We arrange this where required.
