Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Residential and commercial decking around Ashmore

Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.
Covered decks get more use
In Gold Coast summers, an uncovered deck can be too hot to use in the middle of the day. A roof turns it into somewhere you can sit through summer afternoons and showers. It also protects the boards, so timber needs oiling less often.
Building under an existing roof
If the patio roof is already there, the deck frame has to work around the roof posts. We either notch the deck around them or, where the posts sit on their own footings, build up to them with a neat trim. Before quoting, we check the post bases. A post that has been sitting in damp soil or on a cracked slab may need a new stirrup or footing before a deck goes in around it.
Height under the roof matters too. Raising the floor with a deck takes away headroom. If the roof is low already, we will tell you how much clearance you will have left.
Building the roof and deck together
When both are new, we can set the roof posts and deck footings in one go, and line the posts up with the deck layout so nothing looks like an afterthought. We can do this as one job. See our pergolas and patios page for roof options.
Water at the edges
A roof sheds water at its edge. If the gutter is undersized or blocks, water pours onto the deck in one line. We look at where downpipes will drain and keep them off the boards and away from the frame.
Boards under cover
- Treated pine does well under a roof because it gets less sun and rain. It is the lowest cost option at $350 to $550 per m² supplied and installed.
- Hardwood at $350 to $550 per m² needs less frequent oiling when covered.
- Composite from Ekodeck or Ezy Decking, at $450 to $700 per m², needs very little care either way.
