Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Residential and commercial decking around Bonogin

A verandah that wraps a corner of the house needs boards and joists to change direction neatly. We usually run a mitred or breaker board at the corner so the change looks deliberate. Each side also has to fall slightly away from the house so rain does not run back to the walls.
Structure on a big deck
Long runs need more footings and well-sized bearers. If the deck is raised, bracing becomes essential so it does not sway. We size the frame to the span tables and get engineering where the height or loads call for it. A large deck may also need building approval, which we confirm early.
Bushland nearby
If your property is in a mapped bushfire-prone area, the deck will need to meet the BAL rating. That can limit board choice to suitable hardwoods or tested composite. We check the mapping before recommending materials.
Keeping a big deck in budget
- Build in stages: the main entertaining area first, then extend along the house later.
- Use a hardwood or composite on the main area and pine in covered sections.
- Keep the frame low where you can to avoid balustrades and tall posts.
- Choose standard board lengths to cut waste.
Prices and options
As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes.
