Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.
We build and replace decks for homeowners, landlords, property managers, body corporates and commercial premises such as offices, retail and hospitality spaces.
Tell us what you have in mind. Photos and a rough size help us tell you whether a site visit is the next step.
We measure up, check levels, access and any existing structure, and talk through timber or composite options.
You receive a fixed, itemised quote. If engineering, certification or approval may be needed, we say so up front.
Removal of any old deck, then footings, framing, boards, stairs, fascia and balustrades, built to the agreed scope.
A final walk-through, clean-up and care advice for the boards you chose.
Alongside home decks, we take on decking for managed and commercial properties: outdoor customer areas for cafes and retail, office break-out decks, body corporate common areas, and replacement decks on investment properties for landlords and property managers. Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.
Most pool decks we look at fail in the same places: where boards meet the coping, where splash water pools on the frame, and where the fence posts were fixed through the boards as an afterthought. Getting these details right is most of the job.
Dark boards get very hot in summer sun. If the pool area is exposed, lighter hardwoods like blackbutt, or mid and light composite colours, are much easier on bare feet.
Smooth, glossy surfaces get slippery. Hardwood has natural grip. Most capped composites have an embossed grain that helps. We avoid very smooth finishes around pools.
Composite does not splinter, which is a real advantage around kids and swimmers. Hardwood holds up to chlorinated and salt water, but needs regular oiling to stay smooth and stop greying.
The deck should finish neatly against the pool coping, with a small gap so water drains and the boards can move. On concrete pools, the coping edge is usually the reference height. On fibreglass pools, we keep the deck frame clear of the pool shell so nothing loads it.
Splash water runs through the board gaps into the frame. If it cannot drain away, the frame stays wet and rots. We grade the ground under the deck, use ground-rated timber where it is close to soil, and keep airflow under the deck.
Pool barriers in Queensland have strict rules. A deck edge, step or raised section near the fence can become a climbable object. We plan the deck and fence together so the non-climbable zone stays clear, and so fence posts are fixed into the frame properly. If you are changing the fence, a pool safety certificate may be needed before you sell or lease.
If the pump, filter or pipes run under the deck area, we can build in a removable hatch so you can reach them. Tell us where your equipment sits when you ask for a quote.
We supply hardwood and composite (mainly Ekodeck and Ezy Decking), or install boards you have chosen. As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. Pool edge detailing and hatches are priced on top. More on pool decking and composite decking.
Send us photos of the pool, fence and equipment. We will design the deck around them and quote it in writing. QBCC Licence No. 15620733.
