Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Residential and commercial decking around Helensvale

Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.
Start with the existing deck
Before extending, we check the existing frame: posts, footings, bearers and joists. If they are rotting, undersized or not level, the extension can't be properly joined to them. Sometimes it is better to rebuild part of the old deck so the two halves match.
Joining old and new
The new frame needs its own footings. It should not hang off the old one. We match the heights so the boards line up, and fix the frames together so they move as one. Where the old deck has settled slightly, we pack or adjust the new frame to suit.
Matching boards
New timber will not match weathered boards straight away. Hardwood colour evens out over a year or so, and oiling both together helps. Some people re-board the whole deck so it looks like one surface. A breaker board at the join can also make the change look intentional. Composite colours may have changed if the old boards are discontinued.
Approval
Making a deck bigger may tip it over the size or height at which approval is needed. If the original deck was built without approval, that may need to be sorted too. We check before quoting.
When to replace instead
If the original deck is old and the frame is tired, extending it can mean spending money next to something that will need replacing soon. In that case, we'll tell you, and quote a full deck replacement as an option.
Prices and options
As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. We also install boards you supply. See deck repairs if parts of the existing deck need work first.
