Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.
We build and replace decks for homeowners, landlords, property managers, body corporates and commercial premises such as offices, retail and hospitality spaces.
Tell us what you have in mind. Photos and a rough size help us tell you whether a site visit is the next step.
We measure up, check levels, access and any existing structure, and talk through timber or composite options.
You receive a fixed, itemised quote. If engineering, certification or approval may be needed, we say so up front.
Removal of any old deck, then footings, framing, boards, stairs, fascia and balustrades, built to the agreed scope.
A final walk-through, clean-up and care advice for the boards you chose.
Alongside home decks, we take on decking for managed and commercial properties: outdoor customer areas for cafes and retail, office break-out decks, body corporate common areas, and replacement decks on investment properties for landlords and property managers. Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.
If you are working to a set amount, the biggest decisions are size, board type and height. A low deck on flat ground is the most affordable kind to build. Every step up in height brings more posts, bracing and possibly a balustrade. Composite boards cost noticeably more than pine. And it is often better to build a well-sized deck now than a bigger one with cheaper fixings that will need work in five years.
Treated pine is the most affordable board. It is a softwood, treated against rot and termites, and it can last well if it is looked after. It needs oiling or staining when it is installed and regularly after that, and it is more prone to splitting, cupping and splinters than hardwood. Keep it out of spots where water sits, and use stainless or quality galvanised screws.
A common approach that saves money without much compromise is a treated pine frame with hardwood boards. The frame is hidden and protected, and the boards you walk on are the tougher material.
Many homes in newer estates have a covered alfresco slab at the back. Extending outward with a deck that finishes level with the slab gives you a larger covered-and-open area. We set the deck height to match the slab and leave a small gap at the join so water drains rather than running back under the house.
If you build in pine now, you can re-board in hardwood or composite later, as long as the frame was built to suit. If that is the plan, tell us and we will space the joists for the board you might use later.
We can supply everything, or install boards and materials you have bought. Install only is a good option if you have found a deal on boards, but check the quantity and fixings with us first.
As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. Steps, balustrades and removal of anything already there are added. More on the decking cost guide and timber decking page.
Tell us the size you have in mind and your budget. We will suggest the board and layout that make the most of it and quote in writing. QBCC Licence No. 15620733.
