Why choose Orange Projects

QBCC licensed builder

Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.

More than boards

We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.

Timber or composite

Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.

Existing frames assessed, not assumed

On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.

Fixed written quotes

You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Homes and commercial sites

We build and replace decks for homeowners, landlords, property managers, body corporates and commercial premises such as offices, retail and hospitality spaces.

Our deck building process

  1. 01

    Enquiry and photos

Tell us what you have in mind. Photos and a rough size help us tell you whether a site visit is the next step.

  2. 02

    Site measure

We measure up, check levels, access and any existing structure, and talk through timber or composite options.

  3. 03

    Written quote

You receive a fixed, itemised quote. If engineering, certification or approval may be needed, we say so up front.

  4. 04

    Build

Removal of any old deck, then footings, framing, boards, stairs, fascia and balustrades, built to the agreed scope.

  5. 05

    Handover

A final walk-through, clean-up and care advice for the boards you chose.

Residential and commercial decking around Robina

Alongside home decks, we take on decking for managed and commercial properties: outdoor customer areas for cafes and retail, office break-out decks, body corporate common areas, and replacement decks on investment properties for landlords and property managers. Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.

A single large deck can feel like a stage. Breaking it into levels creates rooms outside: a dining area near the kitchen, a lower lounge, a step down to the lawn or pool. It also handles a sloping yard without a tall platform.

Planning the zones

  • Top level at floor height for an easy step out from the house.
  • A middle level for a lounge or spa.
  • A low level or wide step that meets the lawn.

Each level needs enough room for its furniture plus space to walk around it. We measure your table and lounge, not just the yard.

Steps between levels

Changes in level should be clear and even. A single small step is easy to miss, so we often use two steps or make the change obvious with a different board direction or a lit nosing. Wide steps can double as seating.

Cost and structure

More levels mean more edges, steps and framing, so a tiered deck costs more per square metre than a simple one. Keeping levels rectangular and the number of steps sensible holds the price down. Balustrades are only needed where a level is high enough to require them.

Materials

Using the same board on every level ties it together. Some designs change board direction on each level to mark the zones. Composite and hardwood both work. See composite decking and timber decking. If one level sits by a pool, read our pool decking page.

Prices

As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. Install only is also available.
