Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.
We build and replace decks for homeowners, landlords, property managers, body corporates and commercial premises such as offices, retail and hospitality spaces.
Tell us what you have in mind. Photos and a rough size help us tell you whether a site visit is the next step.
We measure up, check levels, access and any existing structure, and talk through timber or composite options.
You receive a fixed, itemised quote. If engineering, certification or approval may be needed, we say so up front.
Removal of any old deck, then footings, framing, boards, stairs, fascia and balustrades, built to the agreed scope.
A final walk-through, clean-up and care advice for the boards you chose.
Alongside home decks, we take on decking for managed and commercial properties: outdoor customer areas for cafes and retail, office break-out decks, body corporate common areas, and replacement decks on investment properties for landlords and property managers. Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.
On blocks that fall away from the street, homes are often split-level or highset at the back. The back door can open a full storey above the yard. A raised deck there gives you an outdoor room off the kitchen and living area, with shaded space underneath. It also means tall posts, a balustrade, a long stair and, most likely, approval.
Termites are a risk anywhere in South East Queensland, and timber close to the ground is where they get in. We use treated timber suitable for the exposure, keep posts on galvanised stirrups above the ground, and leave the area under the deck visible so inspections can see any mud tubes. Where the deck attaches to the house, we take care not to bridge any existing termite barrier. If you have a termite management system, let us know so we can work with it.
Decks over a metre high need a balustrade at least a metre tall, with no climbable rails and no gaps a child could slip through. A stair from a storey-high deck needs space: often 14 to 16 steps and a landing. We plan where it lands so it does not swallow the yard.
The space under a high deck can be screened for storage or kept open as a shady area. An under-deck drainage system can keep it dry.
Hardwood is common on raised decks. Composite from Ekodeck or Ezy Decking saves on oiling a deck that is hard to reach from below. Treated pine is the budget option. More on timber decking.
We supply and install, or install boards you buy. As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. Raised decks add posts, bracing, balustrade, stairs and engineering, which we list separately. We service Shailer Park and the surrounding Logan suburbs as well as the Gold Coast.
Send photos showing the height and the yard below. We will explain the design and approvals and quote in writing. QBCC Licence No. 15620733.
