Why choose Orange Projects

QBCC licensed builder

Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.

More than boards

We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.

Timber or composite

Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.

Existing frames assessed, not assumed

On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.

Fixed written quotes

You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Homes and commercial sites

We build and replace decks for homeowners, landlords, property managers, body corporates and commercial premises such as offices, retail and hospitality spaces.

Our deck building process

  1. 01

    Enquiry and photos

Tell us what you have in mind. Photos and a rough size help us tell you whether a site visit is the next step.

  2. 02

    Site measure

We measure up, check levels, access and any existing structure, and talk through timber or composite options.

  3. 03

    Written quote

You receive a fixed, itemised quote. If engineering, certification or approval may be needed, we say so up front.

  4. 04

    Build

Removal of any old deck, then footings, framing, boards, stairs, fascia and balustrades, built to the agreed scope.

  5. 05

    Handover

A final walk-through, clean-up and care advice for the boards you chose.

Residential and commercial decking around Tugun

Alongside home decks, we take on decking for managed and commercial properties: outdoor customer areas for cafes and retail, office break-out decks, body corporate common areas, and replacement decks on investment properties for landlords and property managers. Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.

Narrow blocks and older beach houses often have side passages that are just dirt, and small back courtyards that are hard to use. Decking evens them out and makes them feel part of the house.

Side boardwalks

A low boardwalk down the side of the house keeps feet out of the sand and mud and gives a tidy path to the back. Keep it clear of weep holes and the house's termite barrier, and leave access to meters and taps.

Small courtyards

  • Run boards lengthways to make a short space feel longer.
  • Built-in bench seats save room compared with loose chairs.
  • Lighter board colours make shaded courtyards feel brighter.
  • Planter boxes can soften a boundary fence.

Boundaries

Decks close to the boundary may need approval, especially if raised. Screening between houses can help with privacy. See our Colorbond fencing page if the fence needs work too.

Access for the build

Narrow sites mean everything is carried in by hand. Boards are cut to length and moved in small loads. We plan for that in the quote so there are no surprises.

Prices

As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. Small decks have a minimum job cost, so price per m² can be higher. Install only is also available. See timber decking.
