Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Check your builder's warranty
Attaching a deck to a new home can affect the builder's warranty if it is fixed into the structure or interferes with drainage or waterproofing. Read your warranty, and if in doubt, build a free-standing deck close to the house rather than fixing a ledger into the wall.
Estate covenants
Many newer estates have covenants or design guidelines that cover external structures, colours and materials. They may also have time limits. Check yours before you choose boards and colours.
Site cover and setbacks
New homes on smaller lots often use up much of the allowed site cover. A roofed deck counts toward site cover. An open deck may not, depending on height. Setbacks from boundaries also apply. We look at your plans and talk you through what is likely.
Don't block drainage or termite barriers
New homes have specific ground levels, weep holes, drainage and termite management systems. A deck must not cover weep holes, raise the ground against the slab edge or bridge the termite barrier. We keep a gap and leave inspection access.
Matching the alfresco
Most new homes have an alfresco slab. Extending it with a deck at the same height makes the space feel bigger. We set the deck level to the slab and leave a drainage gap.
Boards for new homes
Composite from Ekodeck or Ezy Decking suits modern homes and keeps an even colour. Hardwood suits if you prefer timber. Pine is the budget choice.
Supply, install and cost
As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. We also install boards you supply. See the decking cost guide.
