Choosing a profile and height

The 67mm colonial skirting fitted to most Gold Coast project homes from the 1990s and 2000s now reads as dated. Current renovations typically move to 90mm-140mm in a bevelled, pencil-round or square-edge profile, with taller 140mm-185mm skirting used in higher-end homes and rooms with tall ceilings. Square-set shadowline detailing gives the cleanest architectural look but is set out during plastering, so it needs to be decided early. Mitres, scribes and why installation quality shows

The visible measure of trim work is the corners. External mitres must close tight and stay closed through the Gold Coast's humidity swings, internal corners are best scribed rather than mitred, and long runs need joints located away from sightlines.
