Why choose Orange Projects

QBCC licensed builder

Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.

More than boards

We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.

Timber or composite

Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.

Existing frames assessed, not assumed

On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.

Fixed written quotes

You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Homes and commercial sites

We build and replace decks for homeowners, landlords, property managers, body corporates and commercial premises such as offices, retail and hospitality spaces.

Our deck building process

  1. 01

    Enquiry and photos

Tell us what you have in mind. Photos and a rough size help us tell you whether a site visit is the next step.

  2. 02

    Site measure

We measure up, check levels, access and any existing structure, and talk through timber or composite options.

  3. 03

    Written quote

You receive a fixed, itemised quote. If engineering, certification or approval may be needed, we say so up front.

  4. 04

    Build

Removal of any old deck, then footings, framing, boards, stairs, fascia and balustrades, built to the agreed scope.

  5. 05

    Handover

A final walk-through, clean-up and care advice for the boards you chose.

Residential and commercial decking around Elanora

Alongside home decks, we take on decking for managed and commercial properties: outdoor customer areas for cafes and retail, office break-out decks, body corporate common areas, and replacement decks on investment properties for landlords and property managers. Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.

Safety first

Any deck more than 1 m above the ground needs a balustrade, and the rules limit gaps so a child cannot fit through or climb. Horizontal rails that act like a ladder are not allowed where the fall height requires a compliant balustrade. If you have young children, a lower deck avoids balustrades altogether and keeps falls short.

Barefoot friendly

Splinters are the main complaint about older timber decks. Composite boards do not splinter. Hardwood that is oiled regularly stays smooth. Untreated or neglected pine is the most likely to splinter.

Pets

Dog claws scratch most deck surfaces. Hardwood marks, but can be lightly sanded and re-oiled. Capped composite resists scratching better than uncapped boards, and scratches tend to blend in over time. Lighter colours hide scratches and dust better than dark ones. Board gaps should be small enough that paws and claws do not catch.

Space to play

  • Wide steps double as seating and a safe way down.
  • A covered section gives shade for play in summer.
  • Built-in storage benches keep toys and outdoor cushions off the deck.
  • A gate at the top of steps stops toddlers wandering off.

Easy cleaning

Food spills and muddy paws are part of family life. Composite cleans with soapy water. Timber can be washed but may stain if spills sit. Keep this in mind when choosing a dark or light board.

Prices and options

As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. We also do install only. See composite decking and deck builders.
