Orange Projects holds QBCC Licence No. 15620733 and is fully insured for residential and commercial decking work.
We handle removal and disposal, footings, posts, bearers, joists, stairs, fascia and balustrades, so one team is responsible for the whole deck.
Hardwoods such as Merbau, Spotted Gum and Blackbutt, or composite boards from Ekodeck and Ezy Decking. Supply and install, or install only if you are supplying the boards.
On replacement jobs we check the existing structure before quoting. Framing is only reused when its condition and size suit the new deck.
You get an itemised, fixed price in writing after we measure, with stairs, balustrades and any engineering listed separately.

Residential and commercial decking around Southport

Commercial work can be timber or composite, and is scoped and quoted the same way: measure, assess what is there, then a fixed written price.
Laying decking on a balcony looks simple, but the balcony's waterproof membrane is what keeps the room below dry. Anything that pierces it, blocks drains or traps water can cause expensive leaks.
Never screw through the membrane
On a concrete balcony, decking should float above the surface. Adjustable pedestals or a batten system that sits loose lets the boards be level while water runs underneath to the outlets.
Pedestals and tiles
- Pedestals adjust height to level out falls in the slab.
- Composite boards or deck tiles clip onto the pedestals.
- Panels can be lifted to reach drains and check the membrane.
- Height must be kept down so the balustrade still meets the rules.
Weight
Balconies have load limits. Composite and pedestal systems are lighter than a tiled screed. Heavy planters and spas need checking separately.
Strata approval
Units and townhouses usually need body corporate approval before changing a balcony floor. We can supply product details and a method that shows the membrane won't be touched.
Timber balconies

Prices
As a general guide, timber decking runs roughly $350 to $550 per m² and composite $450 to $700 per m² supplied and installed, depending on height, access, framing and finishes. Pedestal systems are quoted per job. Install only is also available. See composite decking.
